Introduction

Ferrite is an artist-first retro development suite for Unreal Engine. It keeps project preparation, asset work, and layered visual authoring inside Unreal. This Manual begins with Post Effects, where the Effects Library, ordered Effect Stack, and searchable native Details panel work together in one Ferrite workspace.

Ferrite works at the project and plugin level. It does not require an engine fork, a FerriteLab host project, or a separate authoring application.

The pages that follow cover the current Post Effects workflow:

  • install and enable the source plugin in a supported Unreal project;
  • open the Ferrite workspace and choose Post Effects;
  • attach an Effect Stack to a Post Process Volume;
  • find, add, select, order, bypass, duplicate, and remove effects;
  • edit the selected effect through native Details behavior;
  • diagnose the most common setup and stack problems.

Use the Effects Library to see which effects your installed build provides. The Manual explains how to work with them instead of duplicating that list.

This edition covers installation and Post Effects. Other Ferrite workspaces are outside its scope for now.

For transferable rendering principles that do not depend on Ferrite, use the Neo-Retro Unreal Guide.
