Effects Library and Stack

The Effects Library shows what this Ferrite build can add. The Effect Stack orders the blendables on a Post Process Volume and controls which row appears in Details.

Open the Library with the + button above the Effect Stack. You can search by name and description, narrow results with available groups and tags, and switch between Tile and List views.

Add an available effect by double-clicking it, pressing Enter, or dragging it into the stack. Its state explains any restriction:

  • Repeatable can be added more than once.
  • One Instance Only can be added once to the selected stack.
  • In stack means that singleton is already present.
  • Unavailable shows why the effect cannot be added.

The placement menu provides Add to Top, Add to Bottom, Add Before Selected, and Add After Selected when each position is valid.

The Custom Material Instance entry accepts an eligible Material Instance and creates a separate editable child for the new row. The source Material Instance must use the Post Process domain, run After Tonemapping, and have Is Blendable disabled so rows remain independent.

The Effect Stack uses Unreal’s native Scene Outliner behavior. A selected row drives the searchable Details area, while keyboard focus, drag and drop, the Delete key, and row context actions work directly in the outliner.

For a Ferrite-managed row, the context menu can provide:

  • Enable or Disable;
  • Duplicate;
  • Add Effect Before… or Add Effect After…;
  • Move to Top, Move Up, Move Down, or Move to Bottom;
  • Remove.

Selecting a row changes what the Details area presents; it does not copy the effect or its settings.

Ferrite keeps Final Output rows above Follow Screen Percentage rows. When you add or move a Follow Screen Percentage row above a Final Output row, Ferrite changes it to Final Output if that effect supports it; otherwise Ferrite rejects the placement. A Final Output row cannot move below Follow Screen Percentage until you change its Evaluation explicitly.

Stage headers appear only when the current stack can show multiple stages without regrouping its rows. Their absence does not change the ordering rule.

Bypass keeps the row and its settings while removing its contribution from the image. A managed row with Blend Weight set to 0 also returns its incoming image unchanged, but the row remains enabled rather than Bypassed. Use bypass when you want the stack to show the comparison state clearly.

Use the stack actions menu for Enable All, Disable All, or Remove All. Remove All affects Ferrite-owned effects and asks for confirmation.

Material Instances or opaque blendables already present on the Post Process Volume can appear as external rows. Ferrite can reveal or open their backing assets, but it cannot edit, reorder, bypass, duplicate, or remove those rows.

Where available, an effect preset applies values to the selected managed row. Stack Preset applies or saves the ordered Ferrite-owned rows in the current volume; external blendables are not captured as Ferrite state.
